Miami is a wonderfully diverse major metropolitan area and will provide ICMC 2004 attendees with countless ways to relax outside the conference.

Coral Gables lies within unincorporated Miami-Dade County. Enthusiasts of sports, arts, and the subtropical environment will all find something within driving distance of the University.

Attractions
Everglades National Park, Miami Seaquarium, Miami Museum of Science, Monkey Jungle, Parrot Jungle and Gardens, John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, and the award-winning Miami Metro Zoo are just a few of the attractions in South Florida. Orchid lovers will find a plethora of orchid gardens and wholesale/retail sellers.

Arts and Culture
The Miami City Ballet, Florida Grand Opera, and the New World Symphony Orchestra call Miami home. Art museums including UM's own Lowe Art Museum, the Miami Art Museum and the more than 100 art galleries in Coral Gables and Miami Beach makes South Florida an art-lovers haven. The city and surrounding areas feature many diverse venues for music, theatre, and dance.

Outdoor and Spectator Sports
With more than 40 golf courses, 500 public parks and thousands of miles of paths for biking, running or walking and the miles of beaches, South Florida is truly an outdoor lover's paradise.

Shopping and Dining
UM's Coral Gables campus is across the street from one of the larger shopping centers in Miami-Dade County, the Shops of Sunset. The multi-level center has a variety of stores and restaurants plus a movie theater, IMAX, and interactive video game-themed restaurant. Visitors can either walk or take the UM shuttle.
