We will be offering numerous special events designed to take advantage of the University of Miami’s location in South Florida: experience some of our cuisine, architecture, culture and sporting events while you are enjoying the diverse music and technical sessions presented at ICMC 2004.

The Annual ICMC Banquet at the Rusty Pelican, Key Biscayne

Enjoy a fabulous tropical menu at the restaurant with the most stunning views in all of South Florida – the Rusty Pelican on Key Biscayne.

We’ll take you from the University of Miami Coral Gables campus over the water to beautiful Key Biscayne, Florida. A special happy hour on the Rusty Pelican’s terrace will feature drink specials, Latin jazz and views of the cruise ships, the Miami skyline and incredible Biscayne Bay. Dinner will be in the Rusty Pelican’s ballroom, where the sunset light will filter through the floor-to-ceiling windows. After drinks, dinner and the annual ICMA awards presentations, get ready to…salsa! We will have a dance instructor waiting to teach you to salsa and mambo the night away!

South Beach Art Deco Tour

Enjoy a walk through the world famous architecture of Miami Beach’s South Beach district, featuring the preserved Art Deco buildings of the 1920s-1960s. You will learn all about the distinct style and colors of South Beach from a locally renowned historian and teacher as you spend three hours on Ocean Drive, the chic Lincoln Road district and historic Espanola Way.

University of Miami Football Game Day
Cost: $65

The dominant college football power of the last 20 years…five national championships, over 30 first-round NFL draft picks…the Miami Hurricanes rule college football on Saturdays at Miami’s Orange Bowl Stadium!

You will board a charter bus at the UM Frost School of Music and go to the Orange Bowl to watch the top-ranked Hurricanes play the Clemson Tigers. It will be a thrilling, frenzied Saturday afternoon at the Orange Bowl – be there live with 70,000 other screaming fans!
