Graphic Novelist (2005—present)
My latest project is the graphic novel series The Lost Colony. The first three books are being published by
First Second Books, a division of Macmillan Publishers, NY, NY. See www.firstsecondbooks.com.

• The Lost Colony, Book 2, The Red Menace (Released May 2007).

I'm also currently under contract for a completely different highly top-secret graphic book project...
Graphic Designer and Freelance Cartoon Illustrator (1994—present)
For several years I held a staff position as a designer for Princeton University Press. I have also freelanced design and illustration work for magazines, books, posters, and web-pages. Notable samples include:
• The Essential John Nash (2003; book-cover design). First place award-winner at 2003 NY Book Show.
• Republic.com (2002; book-interior and -cover design). Award-winner at 2002 NY Book Show.
• Alphabet Book (2002; Bridge Records, CD case and booklet design that includes an illustrated 32-page alphabet book). This was a collaborative project with composer Paul Lansky.
• Illustration Clients include The Nation, The Baffler, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Princeton University Press, Wiley Press.
Independent Animator/Director (1999—present)
The following are samples of the animated movies I've completed in the last 8 years. For these projects I have worked as writer, director, animator, and storyboarder. I have also completed nearly all technical and production work myself. In each case I've worked closely with a composer.
• The Dust Bunny (2004; 17 min). Terror lurks . . . under your sofa. A clever and resourceful dust bunny battles for survival against demonically powerful vacuum cleaners and their frightened owner. Music by Paul Lansky; sound design by Ted Coffey. Screenings include: 2005 Trenton Film Festival, 2005 Garden State Film Festival, 2005 Nashville Film Festival, 2005 Newport Beach Film Festival.
• Afterbabble (2003; 4 min, 45 sec). A vignette about what happens to our words when we're done with them. Music by Paul Lansky. Screenings include: Princeton University, Composer's Ensemble Concert, May 13, 2003; Spark Festival, University of Minnesota, Apr. 5, 2003; Kalamazoo Animation Festival International, May 17, 2003.
Animation Instructor (2001—03) For several years I co-taught 3D animation classes at Princeton University with Professor Adam Finkelstein. • Our classes focused on storytelling and the fundamental principles of animation including close attention to story reel, composition, collaboration. We taught 3D modeling, animation and rendering technology including Lightwave, Blender, and Princeton proprietary NPR rendering technology.
Internships In Animation and Journalism (1997—98) My animation and publishing experience began when I interned at The Ink Tank, R.O. Blechman's traditional animation studio in NYC, and at The Nation Magazine.
University Of Chicago (1992—96)
B.A. in Philosophy, with honors.
• I studied literature, philosophy, and the history of science, drew comic strips and editorial cartoons for student newspaper, and wrote and drew a comic book, Son of Cyclops, based on Homer's Odyssey.
