VOICE TRANSFORMATION SYSTEM AND METHOD USING FREQUENCY DOMAIN SPECTRAL
WARPING The present invention relates to speech processing and more specifically
to a method and system that modifies the perceived acoustic characteristics
of voices and the environments from which they emanate by using a combination
of parametric transformations and waveform transformations. In computer and multimedia applications, games and cartoons it is desirable to provide animated characters, talking heads and helpful avatars with characteristic voices, and to modify those voices depending on th real or virtual environment from which they appear to be emanating. In some communications applications it is useful to disguise speakers' voices or to give them identifiable or desired qualities. Although specially trained actors can speak the parts of several game and cartoon characters, generally it is less expensive and more convenient to use speech processing systems to modify the voices of less skilfull speakers. Furthermore, speech processing systems are often the only means available for disguising or changing the qualities of transmitted voices. IN THE UNITED STATES PATENT AND TRADEMARK OFFICE APPLICANTS: John David Puterbaugh INVENTION TITLE: VOICE TRANSFORMATION SYSTEM AND METHOD USING FREQUENCY DOMAIN SPECTRAL WARPING ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The present invention relates to speech processing and more specifically
to a method and system that modified the perceived acoustic characteristics
of a person's voice and the environment from which it emanates, and that
automatically generates the transformations based on a voice sample and
specifications of the desired voice. APPLICANTS: Kevin John Erler INVENTION TITLE: VOICE TRANSFORMATION SYSTEM AND METHOD THAT AUTOMATICALLY GENERATES TRANSFORMATION PARAMETERS
