For me, the Hummer is the symbol of America's present consumption-propelled madness. It exemplifies our pathological, desperate (and manipulated) drive for things we don't need; a nearly perfect selfishness; and gross, willful ignorance of secondary effects—both ecological and regarding the safety of our fellows. |
